A: We accept Visa, MasterCard, Paypal, and international money orders. Airbrush Related: Q: What is a dual action airbrush? A: Dual-action airbrushes need two different movements of the airbrush’s trigger to spray paint. The first movement is to push the trigger down. This sprays “air only” out of the airbrush tip. The second movement is to pull the trigger backward while continuing to hold it down. This mixes paint into the air. As the trigger is pulled back further, more paint is mixed in. A double-action airbrush is popular among airbrush artist required constant adjustments of spray widths and volume. Q: What is a bottom-feed or siphon-feed airbrush? A: Bottom-feed or siphon-feed airbrushes are the most adaptable style. The advantage of a bottom-feed airbrush is that a large variety of paint jars can be attached depending on the application. The paint is siphoned from the jar and into the airbrush body and mixed with air and exits the airbrush. Bottom-feed airbrushes are available with nozzles sizes from 0.1 to 0.5 mm, but for most purposes, you will need a nozzle that is at least 0.35 mm. Q: What is a gravity-feed airbrush? A: The gravity-feed airbrush is the most efficient style of all in terms of paint use. The paint lies directly over the paint nozzle so it has to travel an extremely short distance to mix with air and exit the airbrush. This makes gravity-fed airbrushes the most consistent, responsive, and detail-oriented airbrush style available. One drop of paint into the paint cup gives one drop of paint out of the airbrush. The orifices of gravity-feed models range from 0.10 to 0.35 mm. Q: What is a side-feed airbrush? A: The side-feed airbrush features a color cup that attaches on either side of the airbrush’s body. The cup can be rotated 360 degrees, which enables the painter to work at odd angles or even overhead. The path that the paint follows to exit the airbrush is shorter than the path followed in bottom-feed models, making it more efficient for fine detail work. The cups for side-feed airbrushes are smaller than those for bottom-feed models, nozzle sizes range from 0.10 to 0.35 mm. Spray Gun Related: Q: What is the difference between Iwata W-Series and Iwata LPH-Series paint guns? Are the LPH-Series that much better? A: The major difference between LPH-Series and W-Series is that LPH-Series are HVLP (high volume low pressure) spray guns and W-Series are the conventional spray guns. The speed of air flow ejected from spray guns is slower in HVLP spray guns than that of conventional spray guns. As a result, LPH-Series will give the users higher transfer efficiency and less overspray. In general, HVLP spray guns could normally reduce paint consumption by 20 to 30%. At the same time, Anest Iwata has continued to improve their W-Series spray guns by reducing their atomizing air pressure, overpray & bounceback paints. The newer W-Series like the W101 will also give the operators superior finish with high transfer efficiency. Q: How do I select the right spray gun? A: The main four steps are determining the Size of Work Piece, Amount or Area to be Painted, Stage of painting and Viscosity and Selection of Spray Gun Model. Selection of small type and large type a. Small / Compact (RG-3L, LPH-50, LPH100, W-100, W101, W71, W61) - Small parts, toys, small workpieces, car repairs b. Large / Full-Sized (W-200, W-400, W77) -Large parts, vehicles, buses, buildings, line coating, large coating Selection of type of feed (gravity feed, suction feed or pressure feed) a. Gravity Feed (G type) – For small amount or painting with frequent color changes b. Suction Feed (S type) – For small or medium painting operations with frequent color changes c. Pressure Feed (P type) – For painting large amount of the same color on a conveyor line, use pressure feed with paint tank and paint pump. Selection of fluid nozzle orifice and air cap a. An excellent finish for a top coat requires finely atomized paint particles. You need to select a spray gun that can provide a high air-to-paint ratio, especially for metallic paint. Pressure feed spray guns could spray a wide range of low to high viscosity paints even with small nozzle orifices. Paint viscosity (based on Iwata NK-2 Viscosimeter) and selection of nozzle orifice a. You need to select nozzle orifice according to paint viscosity. Generally select small nozzle orifice for low paint viscosity, and large nozzle orifice for high paint viscosity. · Low viscosity [less than 15 sec.] 0.8~1.5 Ø mm · Medium viscosity [15~25 sec.] 1.5~2.0 Ø mm · High viscosity [25~35 sec.] 2.0~2.5 Ø mm Selection of low pressure spray gun and general purpose spray gun · From the viewpoint of environmental protection, spray guns with high transfer efficiency and little overspray are becoming more popular around the world. LPH low pressure spray guns can achieve high atomization with low pressure of 0.07MPa (0.7kgf/cm2) in air cap. Low pressure spray guns reduce VOC emission to atmosphere and contribute to improvement of working conditions at painting site. · General purpose spray guns have been around for some time. In most cases, they are less expensive compared to their HVLP counterparts. With the advancement in spray gun technology, these general purpose spray guns are still the preferred choice for many operators that get their jobs done. Q: What is the sufficient air volume when selecting the air compressors? A: Most air compressors supply about 100 liters/min of air. per 0.75kW (1PS). When selecting your air compressor, you should choose an air compressor which supplies 20 to 30% more air delivery than the air consumed by the specific spray gun. Q: Do you recommend using air filters and air regulators? A: Yes, it is always advisable to use air filters and air regulators when painting. Moisture and oils are big enemies to coating, and most air filters will ensure the delivered air is clean. For most spray guns, you should check for their specified air pressure in the instructional manual and set the air regulator accordingly. We always recommend using both air filters and regulators together to get the best possible results with clean regulated air. Source Directory: | ||
